Antique Norwegian silver scent heart shaped box with crown referred to as a Luktevannshus in Norway and in Denmark a Hovedvandsæg. In the Scandinavian countries these vinaigrette’s were commonly given as a token of love. The beautiful heart box is silver with a gold wash on the interior. The front is engraved "Fru Kaia Valdeland". The reverse with "14 Juli 1875". The vinaigrette measures 2 7/8” tall and 1 5/8” in width and is 5/8” in depth. On the bottom is a pair of marks FS which I believe are maker's marks.

The vinaigrette is in wonderful period condition.  It weighs17.5 grams.
