Antique 1903 C.D.Kenny Co. 4 panel Christmas Calendar-Very colorful. Condition is "Used". 4 panels with Children playing, children Christmas morning playing with their toys, Christmas dinner with the family. Decorating the Christmas Tree. 1 panel is in poor shape due to wear and tear and of course age.
You can spend hours just looking at the old toys and phones and customs that were prevalent in that era. There are toys, books, phone, etc.  Such a rare conversation piece that will mesmerize you and your guests for some time. C.D. Kenny co. was founded by Cornelius Kenny in 1892. They were a Maryland based Importer of tea and coffee. They also sold sugar, baking soda, rice, Walter Baker's Chocolates, and rice. They regularly offered keepsake calendars and lithographs of holiday scenes as promotional items. This calendar is also important because it was made before the1904 fire. The store was in a major fire which started at the nearby Reliance Restaurant. The business reported almost a total loss of stock estimated at ,000 but was fully insured. The store reopened immediately on April 1, 1904 in temporary quarters and then opened a brand new store in 1905.Hit hard by the Great Depression, the C.D. Kenny Co. closed it's doors in 1935 however, they continued to import tea, coffee, sugar and spices and was acquired by Consolidated Food Corporation of Chicago in 1939 and continues to operate today as
Sara Lee.
