This is an original press photo. P.E.I. Irish Moss harvesting is one of the few industries left anywhere that require genuine 'horse power.' Horse-drawn scoops gather Irish Moss along the shore after a summer storm. The moss is then dried and sent to plants where the carrageenan is extracted to make such products as ice cream and cosmetics.Photo measures 9.25 x 7.75inches. Photo is dated 07-22-1983.
